STEM Librarian Location Winston-Salem, NC : The STEM Librarian (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) will serve as an integral part of a dynamic, innovative team within the Learning Services division and will report to the Dean of Library Services. The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Librarian will combine expertise in library science or related field with a passion for STEM education to create engaging blended learning for faculty, students and staff to further the organizational vision within an emerging academic commons environment.
Minimum Qualifications
Required: - Bachelor degree in Library or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) related program.
- Experience providing instruction in one-on-one and group learning environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, Project Management skills including demonstrated ability to work effectively and in authentic collaboration with a group of faculty, students, and staff.
Preferred Qualifications Preferred: - Master's degree in Library or STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) related program.
Essential Duties Essential Job Duties include the following and other duties may be assigned as neede Advance Student Success - Assist students, staff and faculty with research and resource discovery in STEM fields.
- Collaborate with faculty to integrate library resources into curricula to promote STEM educational initiatives.
- Assist in the creation of LibGuides, learning materials and resources for STEM subjects.
- Oversee the library's Makerspace including instructions and assistance with use of the various technologies in the space including but not limited to 3D printers, laser cutters, vinyl cutters, and sewing machines.
- Provide excellent customer service both internally and externally and perform job responsibilities in a professional manner.
- Applicant should possess strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills; demonstrating initiative, flexibility, and ability to work creatively and effectively in both collaborative and independent settings.
- Applicant should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to explain complex concepts to a wide range of users in individual and group settings.
- Participate in outreach activities and events.
- Develop, collaborate and lead STEM and Makerspace workshops.
- Learn about emerging technologies and “maker” tools such as 3D printers, Cricut, Laser Cutters and more.
- Supervise and train student employees in the makerspace
- Participates in library and campus committees as appropriate.
- Participates in professional development activities, such as continuing education, and service to the library community.
