Front Desk Attendant – Overnight Shift (11PM – 7AM)
Hotel Royal Oak
As the overnight face of Hotel Royal Oak, the Front Desk Attendant is a calm, capable multitasker who ensures the hotel remains welcoming, efficient, and secure throughout the night. This role blends hospitality, light F&B service, and early-morning prep duties—all while being the first point of contact for late-night guests and early risers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guest Services & Check-Ins:
- Greet late-arriving guests with warmth and professionalism.
- Efficiently manage check-ins, check-outs, and reservation adjustments using our PMS (Mews).
- Provide local area information, directions, and respond to guest requests in a friendly and proactive manner.
- Lobby Bar & Drink Orders:
- Prepare and serve a limited menu of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks upon request from the Hi-Fi Lounge after hours.
- Ensure guests consuming alcohol are of legal age and monitor consumption in accordance with hotel policies and Michigan Liquor Control Commission guidelines.
- Deliver drink orders to approved common areas such as the Bridge Pool Lounge, fire pit, and guest rooms when requested.
- Phone & Communication:
- Answer hotel phone lines promptly and professionally, directing calls or taking messages as needed.
- Respond to Akia guest messages and relay information or escalate to management when appropriate.
- Security & Monitoring:
- Conduct periodic property walks to ensure safety, cleanliness, and noise levels are appropriate.
- Lock down and secure guest-only areas at designated times (e.g., fire pits or Pavilion).
- Morning Breakfast Prep:
- Set up complimentary morning offerings in the lobby by 6:30AM, including coffee, pastries, and breakfast snacks.
- Maintain a clean and appealing presentation throughout breakfast service.
- End-of-Shift Reporting:
- Log nightly activity, guest interactions, maintenance issues, and F&B sales.
- Reconcile the POS and complete shift reports for handoff to the morning team.
Ideal Candidate Traits:
- Calm under pressure and comfortable working solo
- Friendly, detail-oriented, and proactive
- Able to manage basic drink preparation and multitask across hospitality and service roles
- Previous hotel front desk or hospitality experience preferred
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a front desk, hospitality, or customer service role
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and a professional, calm demeanor
- Comfortable working independently and making judgment calls during overnight hours
- Proficient with technology; prior experience with hotel PMS systems (e.g., Mews) is a plus
- Ability to multitask—must balance guest check-ins, phone calls, bar service, and morning prep efficiently
- Basic knowledge of bar service and Michigan alcohol service laws (TIPS certification is a bonus)
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs (breakfast setup, moving supplies, restocking beverages)
- Excellent time management and attention to detail, especially when performing nightly tasks and logging activity
- Dependable and punctual with reliable transportation for late-night/early-morning shifts
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in boutique hotel environments or independent properties
- Familiarity with point-of-sale systems (Toast or similar)
- Previous overnight or third-shift work history
- Interest in hospitality, local culture, and guest experience
Additional Requirements:
- Must be 18 years or older to legally serve alcohol in the state of Michigan
- Must pass a background check
- Available to work weekends and holidays as needed
