Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Jobs Coordinator to join our team on a large water reclamation project. In this role you will facilitate the local hire referral process with the contractor/subcontractor/employee (C/S/E), Union, and other referral organizations. You will coordinate with team members to support efforts in meeting the targeting hiring percentages.
Responsibilities:
* Initiate interviews with all employees to verify and document local and transitional worker qualifications
* Monthly visits to jobsite to interview (Local & Transitional) workers and keep their files current
* Submit required documents to the Bureau of Contract Administration
* Work closely with Jacobs to keep the project in compliance as it relates to the required participation levels
* Help to mitigate any issues with contract compliance in the event some should arise
* Track progress and step in to rectify any and all issues on our behalf
* Developing, creating, designing and marketing specific programs targeting Local Residents and/or Transitional Workers for construction opportunities at the Covered Project (e.g. handouts and fliers for "walk-ins" demonstrating program entrance procedures)
* Coordinating services for contractors to assist in their local worker, transitional worker and apprentice utilization.
* Educating and assisting contractors on incentives provided by State or federal programs for On-the-Job Training and employer tax credits.
* Providing supportive services such as skills training, childcare, transportation, education remediation, assistance with union fees and tools.
* Liaising with the various building trades crafts for referral and placement of local hire and/or transitional workers.
- A basic understanding of fundamental project management methodology.
- Possess strong critical thinking, problem solving, organizational and analytical abilities.
- Adept at taking responsibility for multiple assignments, prioritizing conflicting tasks, and working with little supervision to meet deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work on a highly professional level with clients and internal team members.
- Ability to work well independently and on a team.
- Ability to work with, and take direction from, multiple levels of professional staff.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Ideally, you'll also have:
- Bachelor's degree in applicable discipline, or equivalent experience, preferred.
- Design, Engineering or Construction background.
- A basic understanding of SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat, ACC or Bluebeam.
-Worked with the City of Los Angeles Department of Public Works and/or Bureau of Contract Administration but not required.
