Court Clerk (Maternity Leave Coverage – Approx. 3–4 Months)
Location: Banning, CA
Compensation: $20 to $26 per hour
Position Type: Temporary, Full-Time, with possibility to come on as needed for coverage after maternity leave coverage is fulfilled
Overview:
The Court Clerk supports the daily operations of the Court by preparing and managing court dockets, processing legal documents, and providing administrative assistance to the Court Judges and Administrator. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate records, smooth court proceedings, and exceptional service to court participants.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and manage the court docket; schedule and coordinate hearings.
Process incoming and outgoing court documents including orders, notices, and filings.
Record, store, and maintain official hearing records and case files in compliance with laws and policies.
Provide administrative support, including handling mail, answering phones, managing court forms, and coordinating judge travel.
Assist attorneys, community members, and the public with court-related inquiries while maintaining professionalism.
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with applicable laws, ordinances, and regulations.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred (may substitute for 1 year of required experience).
Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a court clerk or in a legal setting (Tribal, State, or Federal court experience preferred).
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; skilled in maintaining electronic and paper records.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proper grammar and legal terminology.
Must be bondable and meet California Notary Public qualifications.
Must pass a background check (no felony convictions or misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude in the past 5 years).
Preferred Skills:
Experience with docketing, hearing coordination, and legal document preparation.
